Nia Restaurant

ABOUT NIA

With her father, Nicolaus Asimis, in the food industry, Nia Asimis grew up with the appreciation for food. As a child, her father taught her how to distinguish between fine quality foods and poor quality foods. Because of her Greek heritage, Nia has has an especial affinity towards Mediterranean cuisine.

Using what her father had taught her, Nia found suppliers of the highest quality ingredients imported from all over the world to create this vision of crafting impeccable Mediterranean “tapas”. The importance of consistent, high quality-picked ingredients draws out the best flavors and aroma of the food.

The ingredients to make these “tapas” are only half the battle to create her vision. She must have a talented chef and customer service-driven servers and staff. Alejandro Arellano was chosen as head chef for Nia Restaurant. Not only is he an incredibly talented chef, but he works as a team player with the sous chefs and waitstaff to ensure perfect execution. Together, he and Nia constructed a delectable menu, ornate with an assortment of dishes from Spanish patatas bravas to Italian canelone to Greek pork medallions. The menu is truly an extensive food map of the Mediterranean.

In Greece, food is often served as small dishes, known as meze (µe??). A Meze is not a meal course like an appetizer (but can very well be served as such) but rather a dish that is served alone or with other mezedes (plural: µe??de?) to enhance a separate eating experience. Mezedes are very much the equivalent to Spanish tapas. See The Origin of Mezedes in our News with Nia. Mezedes are often accompanied with alcohol; however, it is quite the contrary as the alcohol is accompanied by these Greek tapas. Nia Restaurant has a wide-ranging variety of fine imported wines from Greece, Italy, Spain, and France.

The ambience of Nia Restaurant is an intimate and cozy one. One can find themselves at a candle-lit dinner with world lounge music softly setting a romantic mood or under a widespread awning outside on the front patio of the Randolph Street sidewalk, while being tended to by polite and eager waitstaff. With the elements of brilliant-tasting food combined with the enchanting atmosphere of Nia Restaurant, the vision becomes real and mind fabricates the aura of dining at a quaint café in Thessaloniki.
